Such a tease!
But before we get to The TEN--and the astounding times run there--let's cruise the various venues and see what else was going on!
Like maybe Josh Kerr blasting a Mile in 3:48.87 in Boston!!
His time returned British Miling to the heady days of Steve Cram, Steve Ovett, and Sebastian Coe!
Not only a GB INdoor Record, but the Age 24 Record as well!
He ranks 3rd A-T World!
Enroute, his 1500 time of 3:32.86 also is a British NR, and rates him 8th A-T World!!
Cameron Preceviat took 2nd in a far back 3:52.54!
Another 2 seconds back came Jack Yearian's 3:54.54!
This ranks him 9th A-T Collegiate, tied with 2 others!
His 1500 time of 3:38.56 ranks him 10th A-T Collegiate!
In 4th was Reed Brown's 3:54.77!
He is 13th A-T Collegiate!
His enroute time was 3:38.68, ranking him also 13th A-T Collegiate!!
Both Netherlands 400 National Records went down!
Femke Bol's 50.30 ranks her 11th A-T World!
The Men's NR goes to the 45.48 by Liemarvin Bonevacia!
The 800 NR of Belgium goes to Elliott Creston's 1:46.11.
The Pentathlon went to Sveva Gerivian (sp??), who got 4451 points!
It's the National Record of Italy!
The Men's 5000 was won by Aaron Bienenfeld, time of 13:21.99!
This rates him 12th A-T Collegiate!
Second went to Ehab El-Sandeli's 13:25.01, which ranks him 18th A-T Collegiate!
Allie Buchalski won the 3000 in 8:58.35!
But in 2nd was HS'er Ellie Shea, her 9:08.54 ranking her 5th A-T HS!
Menno Vloon PV'ed 19-4.75!
Auriol Dongmo threw the SP 65-3.50, nabbing Portugal's National Record!
Spain's NR in the Pentathlon goes to Maria Vicente's 4582!!
And Mujinga Kambundji sprinted a 60 in 7.05!
Madrid gave us some quality marks!
Yulimar Rojas TJ'ed 50-6.75 for the Age 26 Record!
Gudef Tsegay ran another speedy 1500, time of 3:57.38!
Konrad Bukowiecki's 71-10.75 was enough to beat the 71-7.50 by Filip Mihaljevic in the SP!
Elliott Giles's 1:45.43 took the 800!
In the 3000, Selemon Barega's 7:34.03 just beat the 7:34.09 of Lemecha Girma!
OUTdoors, we have a few Road race results to report!
The Tokyo Marathon was a brilliant display of longevity in the event, and sheer dominance!!
Eliud Kipchoge won again!
While his 2:02:40 is almost average for The Master, it was more than enough to beat the 2:03:13 by Amos Kipruto!
Kipruto now ranks 11th A-T World, tied with 2 others!
Tamirat Tola took 3rd in 2:04:14!
Kengo Suzuku was 4th in a distant 2:05:28!
The Women's race went to WR holder Brigid Kosgei!
Her 2:16:02 gave her the Age 28 Record!
Asheta Bekele took 2nd in 2:17:58!
It gives her the Age 33 Record, and ranks her 11th A-T World, tied with 1 other!
Goytatom Gebresellassie was 3rd in 2:18:18, good for the best 3rd Place mark!
It also ranks her 14th A-T World!
Angela Tanui's 2:18:42 was 5th!
Hiwot Gebrekidan's 2:19:10 ranks her 23rd A-T World, tied with 1 other!
Back in 8th came Sara Hall, who ran 2:22:56!
Yelenzerf Yehualaw took over the Road 10K World Record with her 29:14 in Spain!
Ronald Kwemoi took the Men's race in 27:16!
In Italy, a Half Marathon was won by Sabatini Kimaru in 58:02.
This rates him 6th A-T World!
Kenya's Irene Kimais won the Women's race in 66:03!
In 4th was Allie Kieffer's 69:17, which ranks her 13th A-T US!
The USATF 15K saw Emily Sisson put on a one-woman show!
Her 47:28 beat 2nd placer Emily Durgin's 49:17 by 1:49!!
And interestingly enough, 3rd went to another Emily--Ms Infeld's time being 49:46!
Being they're all Americans, I wonder if having a trio of Emily's on the podium will become a common occurrence!!
Sarah Pagano's 49:51 was 4th, while Nell Rojas was 5th in 49:58!
The Men's race went to Nicolas Montanez, a relatively new name on the Road racing circuit--at least to me!!
His time of 43:10 beat the 43:14's by Len Korir and Hillary Bor--Korir taking 2nd!
Galen Rupp ended 7th in 43:31.
In a 35K Walk, fast times came from Perseus Karlstrom and Alvaro Martin in 1st & 2nd, respectively!
Karlstrom walked 2:36:14, beating Martin's 2:36:54!
For the Women, Glenda Moreja (sp??) won in 2:48:33!
I was planning on waiting till the end of this post to cover The TEN, but I've been enough of a tease!
The TEN was held OUTdoors, but during the INdoor season!
Just prior to the Championship (NCAA, NBIN, WC) portion of the season!!
And what an amazing show they put on!
(The organizers, but mainly the athletes!!)
Grant Fisher had run some super times at various distances--in HS, at Stanford, and as a Professional!
But nothing surpassed his incredible run at The TEN!
His 26:33.84 broke Galen Rupp's American Record by close to 10 seconds!
And he negative split!!
His 5's were in 13:23 and 13:10!!
He ranks 7th A-T World!
For the first time in awhile, we have an American who can hold his own with the Africans!!
Canada's Mo Ahmed tied himself to Fisher for most of the race, but narrowly got beat at the end!
His time of 26:34.14 breaks his own National Record, and gets him the Age 31 Record!
He ranks 9th A-T World!
Australia's NR went to Jack Rayner's 27:15.35!
While Rayner didn't break Ron Clarke's NR directly, consider that it took almost 57 years for an Aussie to run 24 seconds faster than Clarke did in 1965!!
Sean McGorty's 27:18.15 was 4th, and makes him 10th A-T US!
In 8th was Conner Mantz, whose 27:25.23 rates him 18th A-T US!!
Elise Cranny JUST missed the American Record of Molly Huddle!!
Her 30:14.66 fell 1.29 seconds short!
The fault seemed to lay with the new "wavelights" used to "pace" runners!
For some reason, they were set at 3 seconds SLOWER than Huddle's time!
I'm not sure if Cranny was aware of this, as she stayed with the lights until less than a lap to go, when it was too late to make up the difference!!
YET....her time is 2nd A-T US, and misses the World list by only 0.90 seconds!!
Her splits were 15:04 and 15:10!
In 2nd--but far back--was Dominique Scott's 31:00.10, A PR for the South African!
For Americans, 5th and 6th produced good times!
Millie Paladino ran 31:19.92 in 2nd, making her 21st A-T US!
And in 6th, Sarah Lancaster's 31:21.75 makes her 23rd A-T US!!
This is already a long post, but I have more results, so let's move on!
Back to INdoors, and to France!
Chris Nilsen got the American Record with his clearance of 19-10.25!!
It's also the Age 24 Record, and ranks him 5th A-T World!
Breaking his own Philippines National Record, Ernest Obiene topped 19-4.75!
He ranks 24th A-T World, tied with 3 others!
In 3rd, with the same height, came Thiago Braz!
The Women's PV went to Tina Sutej's 15-9.
It breaks her own NR of Slovenia!
She ranks 17th A-T World, tied with 2 others!
In 2nd was Angelica Moser's 15-3.50!
Also in France, but in a different venue, Chris Nilsen got over 19-3.50!
Mujinga Kambundji sped her 60 in 7.06!
But in Poland, Ewe Swoboda just got in under 7.00 over 60 meters, her 6.99 following a heat of 7.09!
It breaks her own National Record of Poland, and ranks her 10th A-T World!!
Justyna Swiety-Ersetic ran the 400 in 51.04!
In the Pentathlon, Adrianna Sulek scored 4756 points, missing the World list by a mere 24 points!
Paulina Ligarska scored 4593 in 2nd!
I'll close with some HS marks, all of which made my HS lists!!
Tarik Robinson-O'Hagan let fly his WT 85-2.50!
This makes him 5th A-T HS!
Justin Braun's 60 in 6.62 also gets him 5th A-T HS, but it's tied with 2 others!
James Donahue's 4:02.25 Mile ranks him 9th A-T HS!
Marcus Reilly ran a Mile in 4:07.04, which nets him the 24th position on my HS list!
Oh, BTW, it's also the Soph Class Record!!
Finally, we have Kenna Stimmel topping 14-2 in the PV!
She ranks 9th A-T HS, tied with 1 other!
She also becomes the 14th HS'er to clear 14-0 or higher INdoors!!
Next is the NCAA Championships!!
See you soon!
