INdoors--Prepping for the Champs

 This is the part of the season I like best--when the athletes seek to qualify for the various Championships just a few weeks away!
That's when lists are revised, and records fall!
So much is happening that we need to break it down, event by event!

LJ and TJ
Jasmine Moore broke the Collegiate Record with a stunning 47-9 in the TJ at a Clemson meet!
She also gets the Soph Class Record, and ranks her 3rd A-T US!
Natricia Hooper took 2nd with a good 46-3.25, making her 12th A-T Collegiate!
In the New Balance Boston meet, Lorraine Ugen LJ'ed 22-0.25, getting the Meet Record!

PV
When Mondo Duplantis picks up his pole, we all wake up!
His 19-9 gave him the Karlsruhe Meet record, as well as the Age 22 Record!
(He holds ALL the Age Records from 17 to 22 now--six in a row!)
KC Lightfoot was 2nd, reaching 19-3.75!
These 2 improved their marks in Ostrava!
Mondo went over 19-9.25, breaking his own Age 22 Record!
And Lightfoot cleared 19-5 in 2nd!

Other Pole Vault news--
At the Sander Invite, Zach McWhorter won with 19-2.25.
This made him 5th A-T Collegiate, tied with 1 other!
And he's 12th A-T US, tied with 5 others!
He beat the rising (Sic!) Sondre Guttormsen, who got over 18-10.25!
This makes him 15th A-T Collegiate, tied with 1 other!

In Louisiana, Lisa Gunnarson cleared 14-9.50!
Menno Vloon jumped 19-2.75 in France, beating Jacob Wooten's 19-0.75!
Also in France, Iryna Zhuk cleared 15-1!
In Ostrava, Zhuk improved to 15-5.50, turning back Tina Sutej's 15-1.50!
In an OUTdoor meet, Olivia McTaggert reached 15-1!
In the NB meet, Julia Fixsen's 14-8.25 made her 21st  A-T Collegiate!
Tina Sutej cleared 15-3.75 at the New Mexico Classic!
A couple of solid performances happened in France--
Chris Nilsen went 19-9, which ties the American Record!!
It also makes him 5th A-T World, tied with 2 others!
Then Iryna Zhuk went over 15-7.75, which breaks her own National Record of Belarus!!
She is now 20th A-T World, tied with 2 others!

60's, 200, 300, and 400
Steven Gardiner smashed the INdoor 300 World Record with a great 31.56!!
It also gifts him with Bahamas NR and the Age 26 Record!!
Jasmine Camacho-Quinn broke her own NR of Puerto Rico with her 36.52!
But she misses the World list by 0.03 seconds!!
In New Mexico, Trey Cunningham's 7.46 in the 60H makes him 4th A-T Collegiate, and 18th A-T US, tied with 2 others!

The Clemson meet had a series of fine marks--
Javonte Harding sped one lap in 20.33, making him 17th A-T Collegiate, tied with 1 other!
Grace Stark took the final in the 60, running 7.14!
But she ws faster in her heat, her 7.12 making her 12th A-T Collegiate, tied with 3 others!
And Paula Salmon's 7.89 in the 60H makes her 10th A-T Collegiate, tied with 2 others!

Kaniya Johnson, a HS'er, ran a 300 in 37.75, making her 10th A-T HS!
Ostrava saw Anna Kiefbasinska (sp??)do the 400 in 51.10, giving her Poland's National Record!
Grant Holloway got NB Boston's Meet Record with his 7.37 over 60H!
It's also the Age 24 Record!
Trey Cunningham took 2nd with his 7.47!
Mikiah Brisco's 7.07 tied the MR!
Brianna Williams took 2nd in 7.11, but ran 7.09 in her heat!
Noah Lyles took the flat 60 in 6.56!
BTW, the NB meet was at the Ocean Breeze!!

Danielle Williams took the 60H in Boston (er, NYC!), her 7.83 turning back the 7.88 by Britany Anderson!
Gabby Thomas beat Lynna Irby in the 300, 36.21 to 36.42!
In the New Mexico Classic, Favour Ofili ran the 200 in 22.71.
Also, Justin Robinson edged Jonathan Jones over 400, 46.06 to 46.10!

1500, Mile, 3000, 5000
Olin Hacker took the 3000 in a South Carolina meet in 7:45.73, making him 15th A-T Collegiate!
Karlsruhe saw a pair of goodies--
Birihu Aregawi ran a speedy 3000, his 7:26.20 making him 5th A-T World!
Adel Mechaal was 2nd in 7:36.57!
In 3rd, Jacob Krop ran 7:38.15!
Axumawit Embaye (I've always loved her name!!) won the 1500 in 4:02.12.
Hirut Meshasha took 2nd in 4:02.14!!
In 4th came Winnie Nanyondo, her 4:04.25 giving her Uganda's NR!!

Colin Sahlman became the newest sub-4 Miler from the HS ranks, his 3:58.81 actually winning the race against his elders!!
It makes him 3rd A-T HS!
His enroute 1500 time of 3:44.05 makes him 5th A-T HS!
That was at the Sander Invite!
Other HS Miles came from Gary Martin, whose 4:05.47 makes him 9th A-T HS!
His enroute time at 1500 was 3:47.81, making him 8th A-T HS.
Gavin Sherry's 4:06.58 makes him 13th A-T HS!
His 1500 was 3:50.50, making him 12th A-T HS!

Also against older guys, Lex Young ended in 4th, but his 7:57.06 over 3000 meters gets him the Junior Class Record, and makes him 2nd A-T HS!
His teammate Aaron (Sic!) Sahlman ran 8:01.72, making him 4th A-T HS!

The Terrier Classic in Boston saw Alexa Efraimson return to some prominence, her 4:29.78 taking the Mile by a few seconds!!
Vincent Clattier took a Men's Mile in 3:54.31.
In another Boston meet, Matthew Payamps took the mile in 3:55.53, making him 18th A-T Collegiate!
The Ostrava 1500 was won by Elliott Giles's 3:35.93!
Ismael Debjani took 2nd, his 3:36.38 becoming Belgium's NR!!

The NB Boston meet gave up some quality times!
Adel Mechaal got the Meet Record with his 3000 time of 7:30.82!
It's also the National record of Spain!
He ranks 13th A-T World!
Andrew Coscoran's 3:53.64 took the Mile!
Colby Alexander was 2nd in 3:53.83!
Back in 7th was Hobbs Kessler, who ran a PR of 3:57.10!
His 1500 time was 3:41.17 enroute!

In the Women's 3000, Gabby Debues-Stafford ran 8:33.92, gifting herself Canada's National Record!
Makides Abebe took 2nd in 8:36.31.
In 3rd was Josette Norris's 8:37.91.
This makes her 8th A-T US!
Two other Americans ran well.
Annie Rodenfels's 8:46.07 in 7th makes her 20th A-T US!
In 8th was Katie Izzo, her 8:46.54 making her 21st A-T US!

I'll close this events section with more HS times--
Jenna Mulhern ran a 5000 in 16:17.47, making her 8th A-T HS!
James Donahue did 3000 in 8:13.75, making him 12th A-T HS.
And Gavin Sherry improved to 4:05.10, making him 10th A-T HS on the Mile list!

600, 800, 1000
Karede Otusajo ran a 600 in 1:18.99, making him 16th A-T HS!
Shane Streich's 1:46.07 at the Sander Invite makes him 16th A-T US, tied with 1 other!
Mariano Garcia's 1:45.12 at NB Boston is also Spain's new NR!
Bryce Hoppel was 2nd in 1:46.08!
Back in 6th, Will Sumner's 1:48.14 makes him 2nd A-T HS!!

Natoya Goule sped her 800 in 1:59.62 to take the NB Boston race!
Olivia Baker was 2nd in 2:00.33, making her 19th A-T US!
The New Mexico Classic saw Jonathan Jones rip a 600 in 1:15.12.
This makes him 5th A-T US, and 7th A-T World, tied with 1 other!
It also makes him 4th A-T Collegiate, and breaks his own National Record of Barbados!!
Ajee Wilson took Camel City's 800 in 2:01.39!
Marcus Reilly took a 1000, his 2:24.18 making him 10th A-T HS!
More important, it makes him the Soph Class Record holder!!

Multis
Anna Hall scored 4370 points in the Clemson Pentathlon!
In New Mexico, Kristina Blazevica scored 4402 points, making her 19th A-T Collegiate!
Hope Bender was solid in 2nd with 4304 points!
In France, Adrianna Sulek scored a winning total of 4569 points!
Maria Vicente scored 4495 in 2nd, with Leoni Cambours ending with 4457 points!
In 4th came Iviva Gerevini, her 4434 total giving her the NR of Italy!!
Simon Ehammer took the Heptathlon there, his 6285 total giving him the National Record of Switzerland, and making him 20th A-T World!

SP, WT
Shey Taiwo's 82-1 Weight Throw gets her up the ladder on 3 lists--2nd A-T Collegiate, and 4th A-T on both the US and World lists!
Jorinde Van Klinken took New Mexico's Shot Put with a Netherlands National Record of 61-11.50!
It makes her 6th A-T Collegiate!
Tarik Robinson-O'Hagan does both Throws!
His WT of 82-3 makes him 9th A-T HS!
Second in that event was Michael Pinckney, his 81-6.75 making him 13th A-T HS!
In another meet, Robinson-O'Hagan threw the SP 69-0.25, making him 13th A-T HS!
He also did his prime event with a lob of 79-1!!

Canada's Sarah Mitton had a SP of 62-10.50!
Erin Reese had a WT of 78-8.25 at the Camel City meet!
Tripp Piperi took the New Mexico Shot Put with 70-4.50!
Tucker Smith got a SP of 68-5, making him 16th A-T HS!

Guess what?!
We're almost done with this post, so I'm gonna give you a strange combination of events to close things off!

HJ and the Roads
Mizuki Matsuda won the Osaka Marathon in 2:20:52!
In the Spanish 35K Walk Championships, Miguel Lopez took the Men's race in 2:27:53!!
That's WR pace if extended to the 50K distance!!
Maria Perez impressed with her win in 2:39:16.
If extended another 15K, her time would be about 3:48:00, though my calculations were done in my head, not on paper or with a calculator!!

And in the "other" event--
Elias Gerald HJ'ed 7-2, making him 15th A-T HS, tied with a mere 16 others!!!
And that is NOT a misprint!!
Finally, Emily Borthwick and Mariya Vukovic both cleared 6-4.75, with Borthwick winning!
