So why this interim report, devoid of the Records & Marks you've come to expect?
It's because those have become buried under a massive sludge pile of DQ's, or Dis-Qualifications!
I haven't watched this meet!
I HATE most televised airings of T&F meets, however important!
Their breakaways from distance races, their ignoring of field events, their commentators lack of knowledge (or of their not doing the necessary research!), you name it!
So I haven't SEEN the videos of these (thus far!!) 24 DQ's, five of which came in ONE heat of the Men's 400!

You know the most egregious--the "winners" of the Men's 400 Gold & Silver, Drew Windle (though he was re-instated), Paul Chelimo (though his might be legit!).
As others have noted--myself included!--there are also the abundance of No-Shows---either as total MIA's, DNS's, or even some DNF's!
Blame has been cast upon British officials--and officiating!!
They say this doesn't happen in other venues, other nations--as much!

(In fact, speaking of Records, this is probably a WORLD Record for "Most DQ's in One Meet, INdoors or OUTdoors" in all of history!!)
"Lord" Coe---aka Seb Coe, CEO of the IAAF--is there, in Birmingham.
I assume he is watching the meet, seeing this FARCE go on--and on--and on--and on!!

Does he LIKE what he's seeing?
Or is he too busy being political, chatting with his fellow Lords & Ladies during this Piccadilly Circus of a WC's??

Haven't seen it, but I heard that Pavel Maslak, the "winner" of the Men's 400 (AFTER the DQ's of the 1st & 2nd place finishers!!), said that his "Gold" felt like a Bronze!!
Kudos to Mr Maslak, for being gracious and humble enough to admit that even HE felt the DQ rulings were a pathetic mess!!
Many elite athletes, commentators, and knowing fans--have lashed out at this DQ shit-pile on social media!!
Several have said that THIS is why T&F (or "Athletics") is dead--or dying!
Some have said they refuse to watch--even if they've paid to do so!--because it's such a turn-off!

Look, I can understand the occasional false start, too-aggressive pushing, the gross violation of lane rules!!
But let's emphasize the word "gross", or "too"!
Pushing & shoving in T&F is inevitable--especially in INdoor racing!
FS's that are inarguable--no argument here!
But what about the differences in the way SOME DQ's are fomented upon the "guilty"?

In the LJ & TJ, you have MARKINGS on the plasticine to SHOW that one's shoe has touched it--thus the foul!
You knock the bar off in the HJ or PV---you get an X!!
Three X's, you're GONE!!
No regret, no remorse, no argument!!
As I said, I haven't seen any videos of that Men's 400, where the "winner" finished well ahead of anyone else!
I have no idea where this man was when the "violation" occurred!
Or how egregious it was!
Did it MARKEDLY affect the outcome?
Did it do anything to alter the course of Maslak?
Did HE complain to the officials?

WHY 5 of these in one heat of one event--the ENTIRE FIELD??
(As I sarcastically asked on the T&FN Message Board--What if that had been the FINAL?? The Medal ceremony would have been VERY brief!! LOL)
No matter how many--or of what supreme quality--Records & Marks this blog reports tomorrow--they can NOT erase the UGLINESS of what's gone down in Birmingham England on March 1st, 2nd, and 3rd!!

I suggest this---
Have ALL the athletes follow Pavel Maslak's thinking---that their "Gold" felt more like "Bronze"!
Let them PROTEST by refusing to take part in the Medal ceremony!
