Championship Weekend Next

I do have some great marks (& records!) to report, but this post will be mainly a "Preview of Previews".
Meaning, I'll outline what you can look forward to in the 24 hours prior to the NBIN, NCAA, and USATF opening days of March 11th!
But, as always, the Records & Marks come first!

As Australia and New Zealand are wrapping up their summer OUTdoor season, most of the marks I have come from OUTdoor meets from there!

While maybe not the "best" mark, Valerie Adams's NZ National Championship SP win surely holds the most significance!
She's BAACCKK!!!

63-9 (19.43) leads the World, whether we're talking INdoors or OUTdoors!
It's her best post-injury!

Also in the SP, Tomas Stanek threw it 69-10.75, or 21.30.
This was INdoors!

OUTdoors--in Texas--HS 11th grader Tripp Piperi reached 70-1.
This accomplished a couple of things!
One, it makes him 23rd A-T HS!
Two, it eliminates the last of my sub-70 Performers from my OUTdoor list!
That was Vince Goldsmith, whose 69-11 dated from--1977!!
And 24th place, at 70 feet even?
None other than Ryan Whiting,  whose 70-0 dates from 2005!

Alyssa Wilson, who began the year with a shocking 54-5 Put, has added 6 inches to that mark, her 54-11 moving her from 3rd to 2nd on the A-T INdoor HS list!
And it breaks her own Junior Class Record!!

Eliza McCartney continues to rack up NZ National Records (as well as Age 19 Records!) in the PV.
Her latest--15-9, or 4.80--moves her from 22nd A-T World, tied with 3 others, to 11th, tied with 1 other!
She, as noted, breaks her own NR and Age 19 Records!

Nicole Buchler broke her own National INdoor Record of Switzerland in the PV--twice!--first with 15-5.75, which made her 17th A-T World, tied with 3 others!
Then she reached 15-7, which moved her to 16th A-T World, tied with 1 other!

Alana Boyd won the Australian Championship with a 15-5.50 Vault!
She then missed her 3 attempts at 4.81, or 15-9.25!

Renaud Lavillenie Vaulted his highest of 2016, an INdoor height of 6.03, or 19-9.25!
However, the Age 29 record remains Sergey Bubka's 20-2 from 1993!

Emmanu Karalis finished 4th behind the Frenchman, but broke his own Age 16 record with a 5.54 (18-2) leap!

Devin King reached 18-1.

The Melbourne Track Classic  saw David Rudisha open his OUTdoor season with an 800 win of 1:44.78.

Also in Melbourne, Kathryn Mitchell threw the Javelin out 211-2!

In the same INdoor meet where Lavillenie PV'ed, Richard Kilty won the 60 in 6.50.

Michelle Lee Ahye took the Women's race in 7.10.

And Tiffany Porter sped 60H in 7.89!

Dong Bin of China got his National Record in the TJ, jumping 57-1.50!!

Andres Arroyo's 800 of 1:46.20 recently is the National Record of Puerto Rico!

Devynne Charlton's recent 7.97 in the 60H was the Big 10 Meet Record!

Remember when I wrote that 12 year old (!!) Grace Ping had finished high up in a HS Cross Country race?
Well, she's run  another whopper!
Her 3000 time of 9:46.29 in a mixed race is just 2 seconds slower than the World INdoor 3000 Record for Age 12, according to sources!
That record is held by Emily Pidgeon, a pretty renowned Age Group runner of the past!!

That GREAT series of performances by Akela Jones at her Conference meet got me thinking.
She ran the 60H in 8.00, LJ'ed 22-1.75, and HJ'ed 6-4.
Well, if you add her PR's in the SP (14.85) and 800 (2:21.62), you get the following Pentathlon score---

60H------1130 points
HJ-------1145  (2275 total)
SP-------851  (3126 total)
LJ-------1089 (4215 total)
800-----802  (5017 total--and the World Record!!)

Not bad potential, eh??

Following are my PLANS ("Life is what happens when you're making other plans!"--John Lennon) for the coming week for this blog!

March 10th
Predictions for Meet Records for the NBIN, the NCAA, and the USATF!
These will include also a Preview of EVERY event, whether I predict a MR or not!!

March 12th
DETAILED Reports on the NCAA and USATF meets!
I will almost certainly do SEPARATE posts for Men and Women for each meet---a total of FOUR posts!!

March 13th
The same for this 3-day HS Championships!!
DETAILED SEPARATE posts for Men and Women!

As has been the case, you can expect my Record Book to need DRASTIC revision from these 3 meets!

And then comes the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS!!

See you in 4 days!

And REMEMBER THE ALAMO!!
(Today is the famous battle's 180th Anniversary!!)

ADD:
Speaking of remembering, I FORGOT to post some new numbers from my Record Book!
I've got new numbers for my INdoor DDD (Top 24 Performers) lists!
They date only from February 27th, but the numbers arose quite a bit from the previous count, done February 17th!

World Men  (10 on the 17th to 15 on the 27th)
World Women (14 to 22)

US Men (13 to 26)
US Women (26 to 51)

Collegiate Men (17 to 25)
Collegiate Women (23 to 38)

HS Men (18 to 29)
HS Women (18 to 29)

Total Men (58 to 95)
Total Women (81 to 140)

Grand Total (139 to 235)

300's (and maybe 400's??) are just around the bend!
