About 11 weeks late, but as they say....!!
This post will end my series of belated reports on the closing months of the 2021 OUTdoor season!
A few notes--
NO INdoor marks were considered for these awards!
This post has all 4 of my core groups, as I didn't do the Collegiate and High School AOY's when I normally do them--in September--so they're included here!

Honorable Mentions---Ryan Crouser, Karsten Warholm, Jacob Kiplimo, Johannes Vetter, Hughes Zhango, Mondo Duplantis, Grant Holloway, Noah Lyles, Damian Warner, Daniel Stahl

World Athlete of the Year--WOMEN
ELAINE THOMPSON-HERAH--The Female side was LOADED in 2021, as you'll soon see!!  But I had to choose somebody, and the AOY was determined by how many events a person did.  Her times in the 100 & 200 rate VERY high on the A-T lists! Letesenbet Gidey broke TWO World Records, and others broke WR's as well, while ET-H didn't.  However, her dominance in the Sprints prevailed in the end!!
Honorable Mentions---Yulimar Rojas, Sydney McLaughlin, Delilah Muhammed, Lijiao Gong, Mariya Lasitskene, Valerie Allman, DeAnna Price, Anzhelika Sidorova, Letesenbet Gidey, Femke Bol, Ese Brume, Shelly Ann Fraser-Pryce, Shaunae Miller-Uibo, Maria Andrejczyk, Athing Mu, Jasmine Camacho-Quinn

US Athlete of the Year--MEN
RYAN CROUSER---No one was more consistent at stratispheric levels than this cowboy hat wearing behemoth!!  Despite some great competition, he dominated his event like no other!  Every throw seemed to be a potential WR, and when he got it, it was massive!!
Honorable Mentions---Grant Holloway, Rai Benjamin, Noah Lyles, Trayvon Bromell, Rudy Winkler, Joe Kovacs, Garrett Scantling, JuVaughn Harrison

US Athlete of the Year--WOMEN
VALERIE ALLMAN--She broke the AR in the DT more than once, and won a bunch against the rest of the world!  Not only that, she's one of the few Throwers to make my World A-T list in the 21st century!!
Honorable Mentions---McLaughlin, Muhammed, Price, Mu, Courtney Frerichs, Gabby Thomas, Jessica Ramsey, Raven Saunders, Katie Nageotte, Elise Cranny, Maggie Malone, Keturah Orji, Jordan Gray, Annie Kunz

Collegiate Athlete of the Year--MEN
JUVAUGHN HARRISON--Mixing the HJ and LJ is like mixing pickles and ice cream--you just don't do it!  But Harrison did--and brilliantly so!!  Some say he needs to concentrate on only one, but why not double your pleasure?!
Honorable Mentions---Terrance Laird, Randolph Ross, Yared Nuguse, Sean Burrell, Karel Tilga, Turner Washington

Collegiate Athlete of the Year--WOMEN
ATHING MU--Broke the 400 and 800 CR's looking so smooth and in control!  (And don't forget, the Collegiate season ends with the NCAA Championships!  As we all know, she improved mightily after the season ended--though those marks weren't considered!!)
Honorable Mentions---Tara Davis, Tonea Marshall, Adelaide Aquilla, Rachel Glenn, Jorinde Van Klinken, Ruth Usoro, Camryn Rogers, Jasmine Moore, Twanisha Terry, Tyra Gittens

High School Athlete of the Year--MEN
JAYLEN SLADE--Slade, like ET-H, dominated both sprints, and that was enough to make him AOY!
Honorable Mentions--Hobbs Kessler, John Lester, Bryce Foster

Special mention of Erriyon Knighton, who turned Pro, and set two HS PRO Records--and ran in the Tokyo Olympics as well!!

High School Athlete of the Year--WOMEN
JENNA HUTCHINS--She smashed Mary Cain's HSR in the 5000 with a time that would have made her competitive with the Collegiate crowd!!  Enough said!
Honorable Mentions--Shawnti Jackson, Paige Sommers, Addy Wiley, Roisin Willis, Juliette Whittaker, Arieel Pedigo, Madison Morgan

Special mention to the Moll sisters--Amanda and Hana!!

World Performance of the Year--MEN

World Performance of the Year--WOMEN
LETESENBET GIDEY--I know she broke the 10000 WR also, but her 62:52 Half was so other-worldly, I had to pick it as my POY!!  She averaged about 4:57 per mile for 13.1 Miles!!  WOW!!
Honorable Mentions--Gidey's 29:01.03 10000, Yulimar Rojas (51-5), Sidorova (16-5.25), Faith Kipyegon (3:51.07), ET-H (10.54 and 21.53), Gabby Thomas (21.61), Shaunae Miller-Uibo (48.36), Sifan Hassan (29:06.82 and 4:14.74), Norah Tanui (8:53.65), Athing Mu (1:55.04), Shelly Ann Fraser-Pryce (10.60), Gudaf Tsegay (14:13.32), McLaughlin (51.46), Muhammed (51.58), Femke Bol (52.03), Allman (233-5), Yang (1:23:49), Lasitskene (6-8.75), Gong (67-6.25), Brume (23-6.25), Price (263-6), Jasmine Camacho-Quinn (12.26), Andrejczyk (234-3)

Honorable Mentions--Mu (49.57 and 1:57.73), Texas A&M (3:22.34), Van Klinken (230-4--Most feel it was strongly wind-aided--otherwise, ir might have gotten my POY here!!)

High School Performance of the Year--WOMEN
JENNA HUTCHINS--Her 15:34.47 was even faster than Katelyn Tuohy's INdoor HSR, although I don't see it as an "absolute" record, but rather "just" the OUTdoor HSR--as it should be!!
Honorable Mentions--Roisin Willis (2:00.78), Paige Sommers (14-9), Amanda Moll (14-7.25), Sydney Masciarelli (6:25.35 for the 2K SC), Willy (4:38.14), Pedigo (5493)

I've still got Personalities and Events to cover--oh my word!!

US Personality of the Year--MEN
GRANT HOLLOWAY--Watch his incredible athleticism, and watch him during his interviews after he wins!!

US Personality of the Year--WOMEN
TARA DAVIS--She's recently married, but that hasn't stopped her from jumping around and dancing and flinging her braids around to entertain her legion of fans, no matter the seriousness of the competition!

Special mention for Sha'Carri Richardson!  How to put this?  She's seemingly a great athlete, but her attitude needs a LOT of work!!  She is the "dark side" of my POY award!  I wish her well!!

Collegiate Personality of the Year--MEN
JUVAUGHN HARRISON--He's not only great at two disparate events, but he's friendly and super confident!

Collegiate Personality of the Year--WOMEN

THE MOLL SISTERS, AMANDA and HANA--Quite a pair of PV'ers, reminding us of the former Weeks twins!!

The Men's HS marks--A-T list-wise--was in the doldrums in 2021!

BUT--
there were a total of 505 (!!!) marks dated 2021 that made my various OUTdoor lists!!!
That was the most ever!!!
The breakdown---

On the World lists, Women out-dueled the Men, 83 to 61.
On the US lists, the Women were even better, winning the count by 110 to 63!!
The Collegiates also saw the Women dominate, this time by 86 to 62!
The HS'ers, however, were pretty dry in 2021, as the Women once again led, but with just 23 marks to the 17 by the Guys!!
Totals for the Women was 302!
The Men's total was 203!
As noted, FIVE HUNDRED and FIVE marks!!
WOW!!

And THAT is a wrap!!
INDOORS is next!!!
