America's Woman Milers Go Wild!

This could be all about Mary Cain, but something came down from the stratosphere and attacked America's female milers.
Just in the past 24 hours, the record books containing USA Women's Indoor Mile records and lists suddenly went WILD!!
Here are the (partial) results of the 2 races--the AR attempt by Cain and the NOP team at BU yesterday, and the elite women's race at the NB meet at the Armory today:

Boston
1. Mary Cain               4:24.11  (4:06.63 at 1500 enroute)
2. Abbey D'Agostino   4:28.31  (4:09.77)
3. Jordan Hasay           4:28.37  (4:08.66)

New York
1. Kim Conley              4:24.54  (Got her 1500 split late. It was 4:05.70!  4th A-T US!  But slower
2. Nicole Sifuentes (Can)4:29.40             final 109m than Cain's--18.84 to Cain's 17.48!)
3. Sarah Brown             4:29.62
4. Heather Kampf         4:30.14
5. Morgan Uceny         4:30.57

Soooo much to report....so let's get started!
(I'll do this race by race, and within each race, person by person, followed by a wrap-up!)

Mary Cain shattered her own HSR by 4.14 seconds.
She seems to like taking huge chunks of time off her mile/1500 records, which is ALSO probably a record!  LOL
She destroyed the 12th Grade record of Lynn Jennings (4:39.0 from 1978!) by 14.89 seconds!!
Last year's 4:28.25 was run at Age 16.
But in my T&F Record Book, my Age Records begin at 17, and that age is labled as "0-17", meaning the person could be ANY age up to and including Age 17!!
So Cain's new mark broke the "Age 0-17" mark in my book......AGAIN!!
However, it did NOT get the much-vaunted WJR of Kalkedan Gezahegn (Ethiopia), the 4:24.10 she ran in 2010.
Gezahegn's mark was run at Age 18, so Cain DOES get the Age 17 record, as stated!
Cain's 4:24.11 ties her with Yelena Zadorezhnaya in 13th place on the World Indoor list!
It moves her to 3rd A-T USA!!
She was in 6th A-T USA!

And this only speaks of her MILE record!
Her 1500 time of 4:06.63 is just as impressive!
It's of course a new HSR, smashing her own mark from 2013, her enroute time of 4:11.72, by a mere 5.09 seconds!
As well, it destroys another Lynn Jennings standard (her 4:18.9 from 1978 being the 12th Grade record!)), by 12.27 seconds!!
Her 1500 time doesn't make the World DDD--it's 3.10 seconds short of 24th place--but it does place her 4th A-T in the United States, behind Regina Jacobs, Mary Slaney, and Morgan Uceny.
Heady company, indeed, for a HS kid not yet old enough to vote!!

Now for the others!

Abbey D, as people affectionately call this speedy beauty, is still in college (Dartmouth).
So her 4:28.31, which just edged Jordan Hasay at the finish, ties her (with Vicki Huber) for 3rd A-T Collegian!
It also ties Huber for the Senior Class record for Collegians!
NOTE (added January 27): Huge error...by me!!  Jenny Barringer (Simpson) was a senior when she set the CR of 4:25.91 in 2009!  Thus, SHE holds that class record!!!  Sorry, Abbey.....and everyone!!
Better yet, her 1500 time of 4:09.77 breaks the CR of Tina Krebs (4:10.20 in 1991) by 0.43 seconds!
She's now tied (with Huber) for 8th A-T USA in the mile.
Her 1500 split is now 15th A-T USA!!

Jordan improved her PR by 4.64 seconds, down to 4:28.37.
She's now 10th A-T in the United States indoors!
Her 1500 of 4:08.66 is a new PR for her, both indoors AND out!!
It's her first time under 4:10!
She's also now 10th A-T USA in the 1500
If you're wondering why Hasay is faster at 1500, but slower in the mile, than Abbey D, it's because she tied up in the final 109 meters, and Abbey was able to pass her at the tape!

New York
Kim Conley basically ran her own race, leaving the loaded NB field behind about halfway through.
She ALMOST beat Cain's mark, but without competition, fell just short (by 0.43 seconds!).
Makes you wonder what would have happened if the two races had been ONE race!!
Conley's 4:24.54 misses the Age 27 record by a sliver--0.01 seconds!!
She's now 18th A-T World.
And she's now 4th A-T in the US!
Right behind Mary Cain!!

Sarah (Bowman) Brown's time of 4:29.62 is a PR.....by 0.10 seconds!!
Her old PR was run in 2009!
She's now 15th A-T US...slipping in ahead of the renowned Suzy Favor Hamilton!!
It's a bit weird, but because of these two races, Sarah moves DOWN the A-T US list in the indoor mile!!
She WAS 14th.....just 24 hours ago!!
And this DESPITE getting a PR!!

Heather Kampf, (once Heather Dornidan!) has been winning road miles all over the world recently!!
This time, she ran one on an indoor track.
She didn't win, but her 4:30.14 gives her 21st place on the US DDD indoor list!

As for Morgan Uceny, it was just poor timing!
Even if her TIME was pretty good for this (hopefully) comebacking American superstar!
Her 4:30.57 is now...25th.....on my Top 24 DDD list!!
(If these races were reversed in time--if the NY race was run BEFORE the Boston race, Uceny would've been ON the list......for a day!!
Ironically, moved OFF the mile list was Anna Willard, who happens to be a teammate of Uceny's!!

One more Cain trivia item before I end this.
She now owns TEN  High School Class Records indoors.....over various distances!!
