High Schooler Stuns the World

To be fully transparent, while Erriyon Knighton IS still in High School, he turned Professional last year, so his marks are not eligible for HS Records & Lists!
However, my Record Book started a special HS PRO section!
I felt this was needed, so that the kids who turned Pro before graduation--but remained HS'ers!--could be honored!
And his utterly astounding time of 19.49 over half a lap cries out for all the honors and praises thrown his way!!

It happened at the LSU Invitational, where you might expect fast times, but THIS??!!
I saw the video, and he looked so smooth, flowing toward the line at mach speed!
Besides my HS PRO and HS PRO Junior Class Records, he also gets the Age 18 Record!
He ranks 2nd A-T US, and 4th A-T World!
He's faster--at 18!!--than Usain Bolt was at that age, as well as the lifetime bests by Noah Lyles and Justin Gatlin!!

He left a pair of solid guys far back, yet they ran very good times!!
Joseph Fahnbullah's 19.92 was great, but a full 0.43 behind Knighton!
Then, in 3rd, came a dude I'd never heard of--and maybe most of the rest of the world hadn't either.
Dorian Camel's PR coming into 2022 was 20.96!
He ran 20.31 earlier this season, so he WAS coming on fast!
But 20.00??!!
An 0.96 improvement in one year!!
The LSU Junior suddenly ranks 19th A-T Collegiate, tied with 2 others!

Knighton is now on my 100-200 Combined Events list for the US!
His 10.04 and 19.49 adds to 29.53, making him 6th A-T US!
Cut FROM my World list was one Ato Boldon, whose 19.77 dates from 1997!

Also at LSU, Favour Ofili won the 100 in 10.93, making her 8th A-T Collegiate!
Grant Holloway fought a headwind of 0.4, but ran his 110H in 13.34, winning easily!
Getting a lot of assistance from a 3.0 wind, Favour Ashe sped his 100 in 9.79!
Jenna Prandini's 22.45 beat Julien Alfred's 22.68, but Alfred got the National Record of Saint Lucia!
Kendell Ellis, who had run the 400 leg of the NB team's INdoor WR in the DMR, won here in 51.00 over the same distance!
Alia Armstrong's 12.72 won the 100H over Grace Stark's 12.83!

Jasmine Moore LJ'ed 22-4.50!
Quincy Hall took the 400H in 48.51.
Jonathan Jones won the flat 400 in 44.79!
Tripp Piperi won the SP with his 69-7!
Texas's Women won both Relays!
Their 42.37 in the 4 X 100 ranks them 6th A-T School!
And their 3:25.64 in the 4 X 400 was anchored by Kennedy Simon's 49.89!!

Payton Jordan's meet is always reliable for turning out fast distance times!
This edition was no exception!
Annie Rodenfels got the Meet Record in the 3000SC with her 9:25.48!
It ranks her 14th A-T US!
In 2nd was Elise Thorner's 9:32.42, which makes her 9th A-T Collegiate!

The Men's 10000 went to Dillon Maggard's 27:37.26!
Adriaan Wildschutt was 2nd in 27:38.54, making him 13th A-T Collegiate!
In 3rd came Charles Hicks, his 27:40.16 making him 16th A-T Collegiate!
Cole Sprout ran 27:42.42 in 4th, making him 21st A-T Collegiate!
Run OFF the Collegiate list was a true legend of the sport!!
Henry Rono is GONE, his 27:46.6 dating from 1978!!

Ahmed Jaziri took the 3000SC in 8:24.33, making him 19th A-T Collegiate!
He beat the 8:26.44 by Duncan Hamilton, which ranks him 23rd A-T Collegiate!!
Vanessa Fraser's 15:19.11 won the 5000 over the 15:20.12 by Eleanor Fulton!
Wuge (sp ??) He of China won the women's 10000 in 31:46.51!
Keira D'Amato PR'ed in 2nd with her 31:50.58!

I'm going to gather all my remaining marks into event groups!
Throws
Mykolas Alekna got a dual meet record (Cal vs Stanford) with his DT mark of 222-0!
He also gets the Age 22 Record, and breaks his own Frosh Class Record!!
He ranks 2nd A-T Collegiate, tied with 1 other!
Darlan Romani hit 71-5.25 in the SP in Brazil!
Ashton Riner's JT measure of 198-0 makes her 7th A-T Collegiate, tied with 1 other, as well as 9th A-T US!!

Joe Kovacs is in shape, as seen by his SP of 73-8.25 in Tennessee!
All 6 of his throws were 70 feet or more!
Jessica Ramsey got off a good one, her SP measuring 63-1.50, also in Tennessee!
And Avione Allgood-Whetstone's JT of 195-2 makes her 12th A-T US!
Rachel Dincoff took a Florida DT with 203-7!
Collegiate Logan Blomquist had a HT of 240-1!
In Arizona, Jordan Geist's SP flew 69-0!

Jorinde Van Klinken doubled in Arizona, winning the SP with 60-6.50 (making her 18th A-T Collegiate), and the DT with 212-5!
I'm going to put my HS stuff into a separate group, so let me finish the Throws with a HT by Brooke Andersen!
Her massive 259-3 is the Age 26 Record, and makes her 2nd A-T US, and 4th A-T World!
Far back in 2nd came Sarah Killinen, whose 228-0 makes her 22nd A-T Collegiate!

Sprints
In Maryland, Joseph Amoah sped the 100 in 9.94!
Matt Boling ran his Georgia 100 in 10.05!
Natalliah (sp??) Whyte ran a 100 in 10.97, holding off the 10.99 by Shania Collins!
This was in Florida!
Also in Florida was Trey Cunningham's 13.10 over the 110H!
This is the Senior Class Record!
It makes him 4th A-T Collegiate, and 23rd A-T US!
He ran his heat in 13.15!
Trayvon Bromell had a slight wind (2.1) to help him to a 9.75 Century!

In the Pure Global Invite, several races were hurt by strong winds in the 4 & 5 range!
But a few lucked out!
TeeTee Terry won the 100 in 10.94!
Kyree King's 100 took 9.98 seconds!
Noah Lyles ran the half lap in 19.86!
Also in Florida, but not the same meet, Brittany Anderson fought a wind of 0.3 to run her 100H in 12.68!
Hopefully this is legit, but according to T&FN's eTN, Letsile Tebogo ran a 100 in 9.96 in Botswana!
If it remains good, then it's the Age 18 Record!!
And in Texas, Texas A&M's Women's 4 X 400 squad ran 3:25.92, with Charokee Young anchoring in 49.73!

Jumps
Darius Corbin HJ'ed a solid 7-6.50, but misses my Collegiate list by a half inch!
Thea LaFond got a TJ World Leader with her 47-1!
Morgan Lake--a name NOT in the news of late!--HJ'ed 6-4!
Lamara Distin continues to shine, her 6-5.50 HJ being Jamaica's NR--I think!
I'll check it out!
It makes her 4th A-T Collegiate, tied with 1 other!
And that I'm sure of!!
Speaking of SUHR, Jenn went over 14-9 in Texas!

Another PV'er having a great season is Gabriela Leon!
She upped her best to 15-1.50, making her 7th A-T Collegiate, tied with 2 others, and 21st A-T US, also tied with 2 others!
And Olivia Gruver PV'ed 15-5.50 in Fresno to take over the World Lead!

High School (all events)
Tarik Robinson-O'Hagan is keeping busy!
A Shot Put measured 68-8.50!
But in his specialty--the Hammer Throw--his 247-10 makes him 7th A-T HS!!
Another busy guy was Tucker Smith!
He first got a SP of 69-2!
Then he upped that by a wee bit, hitting 72-0.50, making him 14th A-T HS!
Casey Helm leads the DT with his 214-1.
It makes him 18th A-T HS!

The HS Pole Vault stays active!
Tessa Mudd joined the 14 foot club, her 14-0 making her 17th A-T HS, tied with 8 others!!
Kenna Stimmel flew over 14-4, making her 9th A-T HS!

The distances had some goodies, but also a couple of marks that are quite rare in the HS ranks!
Angelina Napoleon leads the 2000SC (Who better than "Napoleon" to lead the way??!!) with her 6:39.71!
Caleb Lakeman, son of a former Duck standout (Dirk), ran a full Mile in 4:04.46, timed at 3:49.08 enroute at 1500!
Natalie Cook is yet another busy bee!
She doubled with times of 4:36.96 and 9:54.66!
Only problem was that these were run over the 1600 and 3200 distances--of no use to me!!
But good times nonetheless!

The Fast Women Newsletter is a godsend for stat freaks like myself, and Women's stats in particular!
In their latest (It's a weekly!), they reported a couple of times that got my wheels greased, vis a vis a certain obsession of mine!
But first, the marks!

Jenna Mulhern, who had run that 16:07.50 in the 5000 reported earlier just two days before, ran a 10 Mile race in 54:15!!
She ended in 2nd, but the winner being a Kenyan who ran 52:04, that's not bad at all!
(More on this in a bit!)
Then Kate Peters actually WON the Eugene Half Marathon, her time being a slick 1:13:22!!

OK, here's my obsession kicking in!
As my steady readers (or those who follow me on Twitter) know, I passionately have been crying out for HS Women to run a 10000 on a track!
Gather all (or most) of the top 25 or so distance women, line them up in a track 10K (Stanford, the NBN, the Brooks PR, Distance Night at the Pre Classic, or....!), and let them loose!
My Top 24 A-T Performers list ends with a 36:19!
Fourth place on that list is 34:36 and change!!

Now, get this!!
Jenna Mulhern probably passed the 10K point in that 10 Miler in about 33:30!!
(Then continued another 3.8 miles at the same pace!!)
Kate Peters probably ran TWO 10K's during her Half--and they were back to back--non-stop!!--in 34:30-ish!!
Remember now that 4th place on my list is 34:36!!
Think these ladies are capable of making my Top 4??

As would be so many others--or at minimum my Top 24!!

I'm PLEADING with race or meet organizers--or anyone who feels the same as me--to PLEASE get these Women together for a mass assault on the All-Time Record Book!!
To make my list, all she would need is to run a pair of 18:10 5K's back to back!
They CAN do it--and then some!!
(It must be run no later than August 31st to be HS eligible, so there's plenty of time to get things together!)

My next post will cover whatever happens the rest of this week!
See you then!
