Wrapping up the week in Record fashion

Yes, Joe (and Jane), there WAS other stuff going down in T&F this week besides those 2 WR's and Millrose!
Actually, my first Millrose post didn't have all of the good results from there.
Just was too much else to report, and I didn't have all the data prepared.
So, let's start with that "Pre Classic" of Indoor meets!

I don't have Walk records or lists in my T&F Record Book, but Millrose had what APPEARS to be two upsets in the Mile Walks they had.

Rachel Seaman (Any relation to Tim?) won over OG and WC 20K walker Maria Michta, 6:17.29 to 6:19.00.
And Andreas Gustafsson of Sweden won over WC 50K Gold medal winner Robert Heffernan, 5:34.45 to 5:39.75.

Not only didn't Nick Symmonds break the AR of 2:17.86 in the 1000 meters, but he finished 3rd!
Pierre Ambroise-Bosse of France took the win with his time of 2:17.63, which moves him into 21st place on the All-Time World list.
Eric Sowinski was 1st American with his 2:18.63.
That's # 7 A-T US!
Symmonds finished in 2:18.87 for 8th on the US list!
Mike Rutt ran 2:19.67, which places him 17th A-T US.
(ERROR!  Added many hours later!  Yes, Rutt ran 2:19.67.  And yes, Rutt's time would've placed him 17th A-T US.  That is, unless he'd already BEEN number SIX A-T US...with his 2:18.27 from 2013!!  Tiny wee mistake!!  LOL)

That Women's 800 race, which was SUPPOSED to have Mary Cain in it--until she switched to the Mile!--was won by Ajee Wilson in 2:01.81.
This beat another teenage wunderkind, Iceland's Anita Hinriksdottic--whose running form was said by one tweeter to be giving Alberto Salazar migraines!--ran 2:02.66--not a PR--to take 4th!
Wilson's time was an Indoor PR, and places her in a tie with 1 other for 20th A-T US.

I don't keep 300 meter records or lists, but Shaunae Miller's 36.10 appears to be # 3 A-T in the World!
And Francena McCorory's 36.50 would appear to be 11th A-T World, and 4th A-T US!!
(I'll make a correction if I find out differently!)
Anyway, it was a GREAT race!!

Marvin Bracy took the 60 in 6.50, tying him at 19th A-T US with 3 others.
It's also the Age 20 record!
Tori Bowie's 7.14 tied her (with 2 others) at 24th A-T US.

Janay DeLoach Soukup's 7.91 60H win ties her at 18th A-T US with 1 other.

In Millrose HS action, Luke Gavigan's 1 mile winning time of 4:08.96 just misses my Top 24 Indoor DDD list!
But Caroline Alcorta's 4:46.06 moves her into 19th place A-T HS Indoors!

And Desiree Freier's 14-0 PV makes her equal-3rd A-T HS Indoors, tying her with 1 other.

Another HS Pole Vaulter, Devin King, made TWO improvements in his Indoor PR, first to 17-4, then today to 17-8!
The latter mark makes him second A-T on the Indoor HS list!

Moving on from Millrose, some Collegiate PV'ers made news this past week.
Sam Kendricks vaulted 18-8.75, making him 9th A-T Collegiate, along with 2 others.
Shawn Barber vaulted 18-6.75, tying him with 1 other at 18th A-T Collegiate.
And Kairlin Petrillose reached 14-7.25, tying her (with 4 others) in 8th place A-T Collegiate.

As usual this indoor season, a few Weight Throwers moved onto or up my Top 24's.

At Millrose, Amanda Bingson took just 3rd (behind Gwen Berry and Jeneva McCall), but she was the only one of the three to PR.
Bingson's 72-3.50 makes her 22nd A-T US.

Brea Garrett's 74-4.25 makes her 9th A-T Collegiate, 11th A-T US, and 13th A-T World!
(Three for the price of one!)

Joe Kovacs's 77-0.75 at Boston makes him 19th A-T US.
Gabby Figueroa's 62-8 improved her PR by 3 feet 9 inches, and moved her from 12th A-T HS to 3rd!
Two other HS WT'ers, Haley Showalter and Kamryn Brinson, had good marks.
Showalter's 59-0 makes her 12th A-T HS, and Brinson's 58-8.75 makes her 14th.

Venerable Mac Wilkins is no longer on my Top 24 US list in the Indoor Shot Put!
Ryan Crouser's 69-8 removed him!
Crouser's mark makes him # 11 A-T Collegiate, and 22nd A-T US!
Wilkins's 1977 mark of 69-1.50 is GONE!!

Two female HS SP'ers made some major inroads on the Indoor HS list.
Stamatia Scarvelis's 53-8.25 ties her with Raven Saunders for 4th A-T HS.
(BTW, where has Raven flown off to?  After her shocking 11 foot (!!) improvement to 53-8.25 back in December, she's disappeared from results sheets!  Hope she's not injured or sick!)
And Ashlie Blake threw 52-3.50 to make her 10th A-T HS.

Dezerea Bryant seems to be the best female Collegiate sprinter this season.
She improved twice in the 200, first to 22.82 last week, then to 22.80 this week
The latter mark places her 17th on the All-Time US list, and 19th A-T Collegiate.
(ERROR!!  I'm adding this a day later, but "better late than never", eh?  It was Kamaria Brown, NOT Dezerea Bryant, who ran that 22.80!  So it's Brown who's 17th A-T US and 19th A-T Collegiate!  Bryant's 22.82 PR still stands!)
(WHOA!!!  Another error!!  Seems Ms Brown ALSO had a faster time from 2013!!  She ran 22.73 last year, and currently is # 13 A-T Collegiate!  She's ALSO tied for 13th on the US A-T list--with Carlette Guidry, no less!!!!  My apologies, Ms Brown!!  And readers!)

She also sprinted a 60 in 7.16.
This moves her from 21st A-T Collegiate into a tie with 4 others at 10th place!

I 100% disdain the abominations called the 1600 and 3200 meter runs, indoors and out!
But I must mention a great 3200 time by Hannah DeBalsi.
She ran it in 10:19.26, which would make her 16th A-T HS Indoors......IF another 18 meters had been tacked on that distance!

Another distance race, rarely run indoors (or out!), the HS 5000, produced 2 good marks.
Kirsten Olling ran 16:56.83 for 18th A-T Indoors.
And Kelli Jackson ran 17:01.71 to make her 23rd A-T HS.
Both are from Michigan high schools.

Finally, there's a new Frosh Class record in the women's HS PV!
Carson Dingler (Georgia) went over the bar at 12-8, breaking the somewhat iconic Samantha Shepard's 9th grade Indoor mark of 12-7.50.
That mark was set in the early years of HS Pole Vaulting for girls, back in 1999.
Shepard was one of the first BIG names in the event!

Quite a week.
And quite a weekEND!
Two WR's, Millrose...and all of the above!!

See you soon!
