INdoor Class Records--Collegiates

If you read my earlier post on High School Class Records, then you know the format!
I'll list the records--no names or dates--to be followed by a list of events I see the easiest to break its records, and finally a list of athletes who seem capable of challenging them!

Frosh--Men
6.54, 20.40, 44.93, 1:16.92, 1:45.93, 2:19.53, (No mark for the 1500!!), 3:55.02, 7:52.04, 13:41.89, 7.57, 7-6, 26-7.75, 55-8.25, 18-8.75, 65-10.50, 74-10.50, 5674

Only Donavan Brazier claimed a Frosh Class record in 2016!
But--despite Drew Hunter and the Lyles Brothers going Pro early--I see the 600, 1500, 3000, 5000, 60H, HJ, LJ, SP, WT, and the Heptathlon as barn-size targets for this group of Collegiate Frosh!!
Keshun Reed and Will Allen could challenge the 400 and 600 marks!
Grant Holloway will dominate the shortest races, and maybe the LJ!
(Even the Multi!!)
Michael Slagowski and Thomas Ratcliffe will try to fill the empty slot left by Hunter!
Watch for Marcus Krah to challenge Holloway in the 60H.
Jaron Brooks and Darius Corbin are your main HJ threats.
Chris Nilsen will be shooting for 19 feet in the PV, while Ja'Mari Ward and Rayvon Grey will dominate the Horizontals!

Frosh--Women
7.11, 22.40, 50.88, 1:29.53, 2:04.27, 2:43.76, 4:22.78, 4:32.49, 8:58.88, 15:20.57, 7.99, 6-4.25, 21-5.25, 45-10.50, 15-2.25, 61-1.25, 68-11.75, 4635

The Class Records for the 60, LJ, and PV fell in 2016!
But, following my maybe insane lengthy lists of easily targeted marks seen above (and in my HS report!), I see the 600, 800, 1000, 1500, Mile, 3000, 60H, LJ, and WT as possibly falling in 2017!
There's 4 fast middle distancers in this class--Katie Rainsberger, Christina Aragon, Fiona O'Keefe, and Ella Donaghu--to chase all the middle and long distance marks!
The only possible glitch is that they're all at West Coast schools, and might not run in East Coast meets (Boston and NYC), settling for quick trips around Seattle's Oversize Track!!
There's other oval runners ripe for record-breaking!
Try Ruby Stauber, Judy Pendergast, Hannah DiBalsi, and Stephanie Jenks!
Zaria Francis is the top sprinter, with Anna Cockrell a strong challenger in the sprints and 60H.
Joining Cocckrell in the fight for Hurdles dominance will be Tonea Marshall and Alexis Duncan!
Although Lexi Weeks set the Frosh class PV bar high, watch for Abby Weiler and Andrea Willis to give Lexi's mark a go!
Samiyah Samuels, Courtney Corrin, and Chinne Okoronkwo should be the strongest in the LJ and TJ.
The SP and WT have some threats--Sophia Rivera, Nickolette Dunbar, Elena Bruckner, and Kamryn Brinson!
Watch for Emma Fitzgerald to challenge in the Pentathlon, but Kendell Williams's mark is tough!

Soph--Men
6.51, 20.10, 44.57, 1:17.35, 1:44.84, (No mark for the 1000!!), 3:41.19, 3:55.33, 7:46.45, 13:08.28, 7.45, 7-7, 27-10.75, 56-7.50, 19-1.50, 71-3.50, 77-0.25, 6070

This Class struck out in 2016--ZERO Class marks fell!!
But this season could be different, as I'm naming the 60, 600, 1000, 1500, Mile, WT, and Heptathlon as good targets!
Ryan Clark, Kahmari Montgomery, and Will London will shoot for the three shortest distances--minus hurdles!
Isaiah Harris, Myles Marshall, and Carlton Orange will target all the stuff from the 600 to the 1000.
Watch for Justyn Knight, Grant Fisher, and Matthew Maton to take on the longest events!
(Despite such a talented distance class, I just don't see them breaking that 5000 record!!  But sub-13:20's are definitely a possibility!!)

Soph--Women
7.12, 22.49, 50.82, 1:28.78, 2:00.90, 2:44.77, (No 1500 mark!!), 4:32.72, 9:02.05, 15:23.16, 7.90, 6-5.25, 21-11, 46-4, 15-1, 63-1.25, 75-7.50, 4678

FIVE Class Records fell here in 2016--the 60, 800, 5000, TJ, and SP!
This year, I see ELEVEN records as vulnerable!
They are the 60, 200, 600, 1000, 1500, Mile, 3000, 5000, LJ, PV, and WT!
Watch for Teahna Daniels and Deajah Stevens to take over the sprints.
Kate Hall is also fast, but watch for her mostly in the LJ.
Gabrielle Thomas might do best in the longer sprints--the 200 and 400.
Anna Rohrer, Brenna Peloquin, Tessa Barrett, and--IF she's healthy!!--Allie Ostrander will produce a fun show for distance fans!!
Nicole Greene is your best HJ'er.
Jasmine Camacho-Quinn might be good for the 60H record!
The Weeks twins--Lexi and Tori--as well as Mackenzie Shell--will all be aiming for 15 feet--and maybe even the overall Collegiate Record!!
Don't underestimate Tori--even though Lexi emerged the best of that family--in 2016!
This is a different year!
Bria Matthews is a VERY good TJ'er, but that Class Record is held by Keturah Orji!!
Fair warning!

Junior--Men
6.48, 20.26, 45.03, 1:16.98, 1:45.88, (NO 1000 record!), 3:38.60, 3:54.74, 7:40.51, 13:26.01, 7.50, 7-7.75, 27-4, 56-11.50, 19-4.75, 70-6.25, 80-0.25, and NO mark for the Heptathlon!!

Only the 60 and the 3000 marks fell here in 2016!
But I see the 200, 400, 600, 800, 1000, 5000, 60H, LJ, SP, and the Heptathlon as fair targets for 2017's Junior Class!!
Christian Coleman should be your main sprinter here.
Daniel Kuhn is one to look for in the 600 and 800, and maybe the 1000 too.
Blake Haney could be the best Miler!
Sean McGorty and Morgan McDonald will take on the longest races!
(Devon Allen recently turned Pro!!  Too bad!!  He was ripe for the Class and overall Collegiate Records in the 60H!!)
Randall Cunningham will have to raise the HJ bar a couple of inches to get that record!
Watch for Devin King and Audie Wyatt in the PV.
Harrison Williams is a good bet to fill that empty Hept slot!!

Junior--Women
7.09, 22.49, 50.80, (No 600 record!), 2:01.65, 2:45.40, 4:12.18, 4:30.03, 8:58.14, 15:28.11, 7.78, 6-6, 22-8, 46-2.50, 14-10.75, 62-10, 83-10.25, 4703

Kendell Williams got the lone Class Record here in 2016!
But, as I mentioned at the beginning of my HS Class Records report, NCAA Cross Country champion Karissa Schweizer IS set to run a fast 5000 at Boston U this Sunday!
And she's a solid bet to challenge the A-T December INdoor record, held by Sarah Disanza!!
Aside from the 5K, look for the 200, 600, 800, 1000, 1500, Mile, 3000, TJ, PV, and SP marks to get a good challenge!
Aside from Schweizer--who could challenge ALL of the marks from the 1500 on up!!--watch for Hannah Cunliffe and Ariana Washington to top the 60 & 200.
Ashley Henderson might challenge in the 200 and 400.
Raevyn Rogers and Brooke Feldmeier will cover the middle distances--the 600, 800, and 1000!
Add Olivia Baker to that mix, as well as maybe the 400!
Elise Cranny, Eleanor Purrier, Sharon Lokedi, and maybe a resurgent Wesley Frazier will do battle over the longest races!
Akela Jones is the strongest of contenders in the HJ, as well as the Pentathlon!
Keturah Orji should clean up ALL the TJ records, including maybe the American Record!
She already has the OUTdoor version!!
Same goes for Raven Saunders in the SP--except I don't think she'll reach the level of Michelle Carter's AR---yet!!
Aside from Ms Jones, watch for Payton Stumbaugh in the Multi.

Senior--Men
6.45, 20.26, 45.29, 1:15.79, 1:45.33, 2:18.26, 3:37.25, 3:52.88, 7:38.59, 13:13.74, 7.47, 7-9.25, 28-2.25, 57-5, 19-2.25, 71-3.50, 83-11.25, 6499

A pair of Class Records fell here in 2016--the 1000 and the Shot Put!
I'm naming 7 events as (relatively!) easy targets for 2017--the 200, 400, 800, 5000, 60H, PV, and SP.
Cameron Burrell and John Teeters could challenge the sprint records!
Michael Cherry is a solid bet for the 400--and even the 600, if he gives it a go!!
Andres Arroyo and Henry Wynne might go for fast 1500's and Mile's!
Then there's The King!!
He lost--finished THIRD!!--in the NCAA XC race!
But we're talking Edward Cheserek here--not a lump of jello!!
The main question(s) with him are--Will he save his fast races for LEGAL tracks??--and ON those 200 meter babies, Will he RUN...or pull a MoBot/Centro/Ches special--and just go for medals??
ALL of the distances from the 1500 on up are his for the taking--IF he wants them!!
Think LEGACY, Edward---LEGACY!!

Senior--Women
7.08, 22.43, 50.46, 1:27.78, 2:00.75, 2:40.82, 4:09.77, 4:25.91, 8:42.03, 15:12.22, 7.84, 6-6, 22-8, 46-9, 15-7, 63-0.75, 83-1.75, 4643

Three marks--the 1000, HJ, and the Pentathlon--date from 2016!
In 2017, the 200, 800, 1000, 1500, 5000, 60H, and the Pentathlon--are most vulnerable!
Kyra Jefferson is the best sprinter!
Shakima Wimbley should be the best in this Class in the 200 and 400, but watch also for Chrisann Gordon!
Sabrina Southerland and Hanna Green should dominate from the 600 through the 1000.
Kaela Edwards might do best in the 1500 and Mile.
Erin Finn, Sarah Collins, and maybe Molly Seidel should cover the distances!
BTW, I'm not sure if Seidel still has INdoor eligibility!
I know she's returning for OUTdoors, so I'm assuming she'll do INdoors too.
But will she run there as unattached??
Quanesha Burks will challenge in the LJ, as might Sha'keela Saunders!
Emily Grove, Jessie Johnson, and Alysha Newman will go for the PV mark!
Kendell Williams should continue to dominate in the Multi!

One bit of trivia.
2016 saw 24 Women's Class Records fall.
But the Men nabbed just 15!!
That's 39 total--for HS and Collegiates!
Can 2017 see us reaching the FIFTY mark??

Next INdoor Preview posts will be about my Top 24's---what it takes to make those lists---followed by my predictions of which OVERALL records might fall--in the World, US, Collegiate, and HS categories!!
I should have those up no later than the 6th or 7th of December!!
